Background

Willow Glen Bible Church is a community of Jesus followers in San Jose. We exist to care for and encourage one another through Christ while welcoming and ministering to all in our community, including the skeptic and the seeker.

The Youth Intern at Willow Glen Bible Church (Part-time~ 20 hours - 30 /week) is responsible for supporting the Youth Ministry under the guidance of the Family Pastor. The position is focused on developing and investing in an adult leadership team, investing in students in the ministry, and partnering with parents and administration.

Responsibilities

  • Personal Spiritual Formation—A high priority is the intern's spiritual growth, including daily devotional time, prayer, scripture reading, and other spiritual rhythms.
  • Learning to Study and Teach in the youth service on a semi-regular basis.
  • Help recruit, train, and care for a team of adult volunteers who will care for the students. This includes monthly meetings with volunteers, regular check-ins, and regular communication.
  • Spend regular time investing in students within the ministry and outreach in the community.
  • Lead a small group of students.
  • Responsible for administrative details of the youth ministry with support from an administrative assistant.
  • Plan and execute Sunday Morning Youth Worship Services, small groups, outreach events, a yearly
    mission trip, and winter and summer camps.
  • Participate in All Staff meetings, one-on-one meetings with the Family Pastor, Monthly Family Ministry Meetings, as many church events as possible, and the broader church ministry.

 

Required Qualifications

  • A committed follower of Jesus Christ with love for youth and families.
  • Capability to deal maturely with sensitive/confidential information.
  • Ability to care for the needs of your staff and volunteer teams.
  • Have flexibility in their schedule to occasionally participate in paid week-long or weekend trips.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other staff members and volunteers.
  • Willingness to submit to the leadership of Willow Glen Bible Church and adhere to its statement of faith
  • Education - High School graduate or GED, College Degree preferred, Seminary or four-year bible degree highly valued either completed or in process.

Additional Information

This is a 20 -30 hour/week part-time position eligible for sick, vacation accrual and retirement plan. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
