Background

Senior Assembler / Installer

 

PSI is seeking a Senior Assembler in its Milpitas, CA office. This position will report to the Operations Manager and will support the brand’s continued growth and development in the municipal market. This position will mainly be comprised of two parts. Responsibility for assembling components for use in on-site sodium hypochlorite generation systems as well as other ancillary components & doing part time trailer/container installation work while leading a team of junior assemblers. The successful candidate will be a self-starter with a team-centric personality, strong communication skills, and experience in assembling technical equipment and installation work.


Essential Job Functions

  • Produce cell components by assembling parts and subassemblies;
  • Prepare work according to assembly instructions, drawings and parts lists;
  • Gather parts, subassemblies, tools, and materials as necessary;
  • Position parts and subassemblies by using templates and/or reading measurements;
  • Assemble components by examining connections for correct fit, fastening parts and subassemblies;
  • Verify specifications by measuring completed components;
  • Resolve assembly problems by altering dimensions to meet specifications; notifying supervisor to obtain additional resources as necessary;
  • Keep equipment operational by completing preventive maintenance requirements, following manufacturer’s instructions, and troubleshooting malfunctions calling for repairs,
  • Conserve resources and minimize waste generation to the extent possible for every job;
  • Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with PSI procedures, rules and regulations; and
  • Document actions by completing production and quality forms.

 

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of assembly experience via mechanical drawings
  • Ability to read mechanical and electrical drawings.
  • Proficient plumbing skills with PVC and CPVC pipe.
  • Ability to install conduit.
  • Experience in pulling electrical wire.
  • Able to connect 120v and 24v wires.
  • Ability to work alone or with others
  • High school diploma or GED;
  • Ability to work well with others with minimal supervision;
  • Excellent time management skills;
  • Proficiency in using basic computer software; and
  • Strong attention to detail.

 

Physical Demands

  • Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time;
  • Ability to look at computer monitors for much of the workday;
  • Ability to occasionally move and/or lift up to 75 lbs.;
  • Physical ability to perform work in a standing, stooping, sitting, or bending position for extended periods of time;
  • Must be able to quickly respond (with the hand, finger or foot) to a signal (sound, light, picture) when it appears;
  • Vision ability required includes close vision, distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus;
  • Must have the manual dexterity to operate the equipment and tools required for this position; and
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop or kneel, talk and hear, and use fingers and hands to feel objects, tools or controls.

 

Work Environment

  • Approximately 100% Light Industrial - May be exposed to areas of high noise levels, hazardous propellants, chemicals and industrial facilities. Appropriate PPE and training will be provided for all conditions; and
  • Exposure to liquid and dry chemicals and substances associated with water and wastewater treatment, including permanganate, polymers, sodium hypochlorite, and liquid ammonium sulfate, among others.
