Mixer Applications Engineer

The Mixer Applications Engineer will be responsible for generating proposals and customer submittals based on leads from the Sales team. The successful candidate will be a self-starter with a customer-centric personality, strong communication skills, and MS Office proficiency. A preference will be provided to those directly involved in developing technical support for similar product lines in the municipal or industrial market who have sales and business development experience with other closely related technologies. This is a full-time position based at PSI Water Technology, Milpitas, California. The Mixer Applications Engineer reports to the Project Manager.

Required Qualifications

  • One to four years’ technical experience in a similar role or field;
  • Ability to work well with others with minimal supervision;
  • Excellent time management skills;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Excellent technical writing skills and strong written and verbal communication skills; and

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • B.S. or M.S. degree in mechanical, civil, chemical, or environmental engineering or related degree;
  • Experience in applications or a sales support role that included bidding and selling capital equipment;
  • Experience or knowledge of water disinfection and mixing technology, especially equipment sizing;
  • Identify and define system design requirements;
  • Experience in mechanical design; and
  • Experience with customer relationship management software (Salesforce).

 

Physical Demands

  • Ability to sit for long periods;
  • This job's specific vision abilities include close vision and adjusting focus and viewing computer monitors throughout the workday.

 

Work Environment:

  • Approximately 75% Office; and
  • Approximately 25% Light Industrial - May be exposed to areas of high noise levels, hazardous propellants, chemicals, and industrial facilities. Appropriate PPE and training will be provided for all conditions.


What You’ll Do

  • Generating proposals and customer submittals based on leads from the Sales team.
  • Develop proposals, including process descriptions, work scopes, equipment lists, performance guarantees, technical and commercial clarifications and exceptions to the bid documents, and system pricing to fulfill the requirements of customer specifications;
  • Develop proposals including design basis, specifications, drawings, and pricing;
  • Prepare detailed material and labor cost estimates for design and supply of equipment per written specifications;
  • Assess process risk, review warranty requirements, and prepare recommendations to management for approval;
  • Maintain accurate records of proposals, quotes, contacts, and correspondences in the company database;
  • Collaborate with the R&D team on special projects to develop and evaluate new processes and technologies;
  • Work with the engineering team to design new components and generate manufacturing drawings;
  • Update manufacturing documentation and procedures by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; and conferring with equipment vendors;
  • Assist with projects by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators; and
  • Develop and maintain Operation and Maintenance manuals for new and existing product lines; detail step-by-step operations and troubleshooting guides.
