The successful candidate will join our growing team of locals and expatriates and work with multiple clients, primarily in serving the needs of private sector business leaders in Rwanda. This role will answer directly to the Co-founder & Managing Director of Karisimbi Partners. The successful candidate will offer:

  • Expert ability to craft financial forecasts and projections (5-10 years into the future) with tables, charts, and graphs that help non-financial managers make decisions
  • Capacity to author client deliverables with attention to detail
  • Work autonomously, but also have demonstrated capability to manage others engaged in research and collaborative projects
  • Identify problems and frame solutions with strategic insight, as necessary for various projects and client engagements
  • Interface confidently and tactfully with clients
  • Understanding functional business disciplines, the complexities and interdependencies of strategy, operations, financial modeling, managing processes, people, and Information and Communications Technology.

Qualifications

The candidate will have:

  • Required
    • At least 3+ years of success in financial modeling and forecasting roles with increasing levels of responsibility, timely delivery to the client or supervisor, and project management skills for smooth execution.
    • Excellent relationship-building skills at all levels of seniority
    • Ability to communicate with varying audiences in public and private sectors
    • Ability to write concisely, displaying a natural ability to identify key questions, assumptions, and challenges across different industries and businesses
    • Understanding business needs and challenges across operations, finance, and marketing is important, especially in rapidly evolving, information-sparse emerging markets
    • Advanced Microsoft Office skills and use of other commonly used productivity tools
    • Advanced data visualization skills with experience in Tableau or similar for business intelligence, dashboard creation, etc.

  • Preferred
    • At least 5+ years of success in financial modeling and forecasting roles with increasing levels of responsibility, timely delivery to the client or supervisor, and project management skills for smooth execution.
    • Experience with consulting, small start-ups, or management of an operating company is a significant advantage
    • Master’s degree in finance or a related field.

Education and language:

Master’s degree in finance or a related field. Certifications in accounting or financial planning are highly desirable (preferred). Fluency and advanced speaking and writing in the English language are required. The ideal candidate will also have advanced Kinyarwanda, French, or other East African languages.

Location

The ideal candidate will be full-time and based in Kigali, Rwanda, but this specialized role (on a project and hourly basis) may be performed from a remote office anywhere in the world. It will be necessary to collaborate with partners and associates based in different locations in the region and around the globe and sometimes across language barriers. Limited travel within the region and outside the continent may be required for business development and project delivery.

Compensation

All Karisimbi Partners employees serve at rates below what they could achieve elsewhere, but we find participating in the social mission of this company offers rewards and meaning beyond typical compensation. What our clients pay us for a Strategic Business Plan is a fraction of what is paid in Western countries, and our compensation structure must accommodate this. That said, we seek to ensure compensation is in line with market rates for similar work and positions. Hourly or salary rates are available, given the type of commitment made (project vs. full-time). There is potential for additional compensation depending on the candidate’s circumstances. Employees share in company profits.

What You Can Expect

Karisimbi offers a lively working environment to fuel a team that works hard and enjoys the challenge. This role is remote or role supporting Karisimbi’s headquarters at Axiom House, Top Floor, KG 563 St, Kacyiru, Kigali, Rwanda.

Wonderbench is partnering with Karisimbi to recruit for this position. We will evaluate applicants relative to the requirements. Additionally, we will use an assessment and video interview to assess job fit and qualifications. Karisimbi will contact only those applicants who best meet the criteria for an interview. Wonderbench will retain your application materials and may contact you regarding future opportunities.
