HEADQUARTERS LOCATION:
Their team delivers a full spectrum of financial management services including accounting, budgeting, financial analysis, Audit Response and Sustainment (ARS), and process management. As the principal financial advisor to the DLA Director, we advocate for DLA while collaborating with the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense (Comptroller) (OUSD(C)) and the Office of Management and Budget. DLA also partners with key DoD stakeholders, including Congressional Authorization and Appropriation staff, Office of the Under Secretary of Defense (Acquisition and Sustainment), and the Defense Finance and Accounting Service.
With approximately 700 associates operating across seven CONUS locations, DLA Finance overseas financial resources exceeding $45 billion annually.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
A Systems Accountant is responsible for reviewing, analyzing, and recommending solutions for complex issues related to accounting and financial systems. This position requires a broad understanding of laws, regulations, policies, and procedures in a wide variety of established or evolving systems. Key objectives include ensuring systems are in compliance with applicable laws and regulations, such as the Chief Financial Officers Act.
System Accountants recommend decisions and commitments in technical areas while aligning with overall Agency policy defined by regulatory federal agencies. They provide technical and professional accounting advice regarding both standard and non-standard accounting and financial systems within DLA. Professionals in this role focus on financial systems and data management, financial improvement and audit remediation, and enhancing financial process and internal control activities.

*These positions require a comprehensive knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), as well as theories, techniques, and methodology of professional accounting. Candidates should have a strong understanding of government and commercial accounting principles, automated accounting systems, financial statements and their implications, and methods for analyzing financial data to recommend solutions to accounting challenges. Also, A degree in accounting or related field, such as business administration, finance, or public administration, is required. This degree must include or be supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting, which may include up to 6 hours of credit in business law.
