Learning Support Assistant 1:1 (SEMH) - Full-time - Hove

Our client is an amazing SEMH Specialist school catering for children with complex social &/or emotional needs. The school has an innovative therapeutic curriculum that can be tailored to the individual needs of each child. The needs of the children may rooted in developmental trauma & have emerged from disruption due to moving home &/or school, abuse, neglect, rejection & behaviours that challenge adult & institutional boundaries. 

Most children will have an Education, Health & Care Plan that identifies additional learning disabilities &/or difficulties. The schools aim is to assist children coming to terms with difficult areas of their lives, to consolidate areas in which they function well & to encourage education as a positive & rewarding experience. This role is best suited to those that have a desire to work with disadvantaged/SEND/SEMH pupils that require extra support throughout their journey at school.

We are looking for a passionate, dedicated, and inspirational individual to join our team with proven track records in achieving high standards of quality. Key areas of responsibility:

  • Supporting the delivery of lessons
  • Working closely with individual pupils on a 1:1 basis to support their learning. 
  • Promoting and enabling social development opportunities

The successful candidate will need to have experience in the following areas:-

  • Creative approaches to learning
  • An understanding or experience of the use of interventions.
  • Experience of working with students with a range of complex needs, including ASC or Emotional, Social and Attachment related needs.
