Senior Technical Consultant 

Role Overview

The Technical Consultant is responsible to provide Oracle Retail software technical product and retail industry knowledge in order to facilitate successful implementations of the Oracle Retail product suite for OLR's clients. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Frequently analyze and define client data conversion, interface, and application enhancement requirements
  • Constantly design, build and test application enhancements, modifications, and interfaces applications
  • Frequently perform data conversion and application testing during the client project
  • Continually complete interface design and development during the client project
  • Facilitate the logging, reporting, and resolution of application issues intermittently
  • Continually build overall client system schedule including online and batch operations
  • Frequently perform knowledge transfer to client personnel especially related to Oracle Retail and OLR applications and requirements
  • Repeatedly define implementation and integration alternatives
  • Intermittently perform go-live assessments to determine readiness of the system as well as client and support teams
  • Often provide knowledge transfer to necessary 3rd party vendors (hardware, software, etc) related to Oracle Retail and OLR applications and requirements
  • Additional duties as assigned 

Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Occasionally assist in handoff to support team upon successful project completion
  • Participate in supporting production environment as necessary

  • Must have proven working knowledge and understanding of Oracle Retail solution technical concepts, integration points, and functional application knowledge
  • Strong ability to proactively identify and resolve issues
  • Demonstrable record in successful large scale package software implementation
  • Good time management skills
  • Must have at least two of the following:

·       PL/SQL

       Oracle ProC

·       Java (J2EE and swing)

·       Oracle Forms

·       XML

·       UNIX (shell scripting)

  • Professional approach when dealing with internal and external customers, including clear and concise written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to change in a complex global organization
  • High degree of initiative, accuracy, efficiency, and attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude under stressful circumstances
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality when dealing with proprietary information
  • Proficient with MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Valued but not required skills:

  • Oracle Database Administration
  • UNIX Administration (HPUX, AIX, Solaris)
  • Linux Administration
  • Packaged Software Applications: SeeBeyond and MicroStrategy

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in a Computer Science or related or 3+ years of related experience
  • 7+ years development and/or systems integration experience preferred
  • 7+ years in the Retail industry or an associated Retail IT field
  • 7+ years of Oracle Retail experience
  • Previous consulting experience preferred
