Role overview

The QA is responsible for participating in functional and process facets of Micros Retail software implementations by applying retail industry knowledge, specialised payment expertise and Micros Retail software functionality. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the definition of project objectives, scope, processes, organization, timelines, and overall approach
  • Consider and define implementation and integration alternatives
  • Act as a contact for the system functionality advice and provide coaching to the client business process team users
  • Define system configuration requirements, identify gaps and recommend system modifications and process changes to optimally satisfy business users
  • Document functional requirements for modifications and support design process for the client
  • Escalate project issues that cannot be resolved within your sphere of influence/authority to the Project Manager as needed
  • Provide support to multiple customer development and deployment projects by consulting on best practices for payment transaction, providing technical assistance, and custom solutions based on requirements
  • Work with internal development teams to write customer-based functional requirements and support development of new products and technologies
  • Design hardware and software testing and evaluations for payment and tablet devices
  • Provide regular project updates to key stakeholders
  • Undertake QA activities as required to ensure the success of the project
  • Maintain a detailed knowledge of the functional capabilities and integration points of the Micros solution, as well as an in-depth understanding payments and associated processes
  • Assist with driving test plan definition, creation and execution, as well as go-live assessments as needed

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in a Computer Science or related field or 3+ years of related experience
  • Prior Micros/Oracle or POS quality assurance experience
  • 3+ years quality assurance and/or POS systems integration experience preferred
  • 3+ years in the Retail industry or an associated Retail IT field preferred
  • PL/SQL knowledge
  • XML knowledge
  • Issue reporting through tool (example: Jira)
  • Writing test plans
  • Reviewing and approving function design documents
  • Prior experience review log files
  • POS Hardware and environment setup

Nice to have:

  • Java (J2EE) knowledge
  • Web Services knowledge
  • Automation testing
