About the role: Reporting into the CTO, they’re seeking an experienced Lead Bioplastic Researcher for bioplastic applications to join their team. As an ideal candidate, you have proven strong project management skills and abundant experience in bioplastic/plastic film production research. The main goal of this role is to conduct R&D projects, develop film applications, and manage pilot trials. Your organizational, communication, and research skills are second to none and you enjoy developing solutions that push innovative boundaries. You’ll work closely with the R&D and Product teams to strategize and develop long-term plans to achieve new levels of growth and success at Erthos.  



  • Conducting, planning, and supervising application-oriented R&D research projects to meet R&D goals and the mission of the company.  
  • Recording and analyzing data to identify improvement opportunities based on given criteria and projects.  
  • Working with the CTO to develop new research strategies for formulation, pilot production processes and prototype validation.  
  • Managing technical analysis, research validation, improvement of formulations and processing methods.  
  • Assessing and monitoring the R&D process of related projects, and ensuring the accuracy of R&D, data analysis, and providing immediate feedback.  
  • Closely work with the product and production teams to fully understand the different aspects of research needs.  
  • Analyzing, monitoring, and implementing policy requirements and internal standard operating procedures for successful research development.  
  • Reporting to CTO or direct manager as requested, and facilitating the research work flow based on manager’s request.  
  • Preparing project reports, weekly progress updates.  
  • Providing support in writing standard operating procedures.  
  • Providing support in sourcing supplies and consumables as needed.  



  • Master’s Degree or PhD in Materials Science and Engineering, Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering or related fields.  
  • Experience with plastics/bioplastic research and processing, and film related production methods (casting, blowing).  
  • 10+ years of hands-on experience in relevant industries (plastic/bioplastic manufacturing, plastic/bioplastic film research and manufacturing, etc.)  
  • Detailed planning and time-management skills.  
  • Great research, organizational, communication, leadership, and management skills.  
  • Excellent understanding of plastics and bioplastics, including the legal & regulatory environment.  
  • Fluent in English.
