We’re so glad you’ve found us! EdPlace is a growing online education business offering online educational resources in English, Maths, Science and 11+ from Year 1 to GCSE. We’ve recently relaunched as the smartest revision app in the UK for GCSE, SATs and 11+! We’re using technology to enhance the way a child revises, automatically progressing them at the right level with targeted resources, specifically designed to support pinch points around GCSEs, SATs and 11+ exams. Our resources are designed to help a child learn skills, practise what they’ve learnt and test for exam readiness. We support parents by providing visibility on their child’s progress and recommendations to correct knowledge and skill gaps. Parents lack the time and confidence to support their children, often turning to private tuition and off-the-shelf revision books. These methods lack personalisation and measurability.

We’re looking for a Data Scientist to use the power of data to guide the company’s decision making across marketing, product development (tech and educational content) and finance. This is an exciting opportunity for someone to use their data analysis skills to have a huge impact on the product we deliver to our customers and our overall business growth. Reporting directly to the CEO and Head of Finance and working across all teams, we’re looking for someone who can put data at the core of our business and who is motivated to ensure that data has a meaningful and significant impact on our day-to-day operations.
Analyse data and present results to help inform decision making across subscription, content and marketing data;
Assess the effectiveness of data sources and data-gathering techniques and improve data collection methods
Use data insights to help design and build effective machine learning algorithms to track students academic attainment;
Design and perform experiments to test the effectiveness of products we build as a team and the actions we take;
Build data around our customer personas to review and predict customers behaviours and provide insight on how we serve them better;
Analyse sales funnel, customer intent and marketing ROI;
Analyse expansion opportunities and create relevant business cases;
Test pricing and model effectiveness;
Recommend website and campaign optimisations; CRO and A/B testing;
Monitor and recommend SEM opportunities;
Create detailed insight on subscriber economics and links to product usage and academic attainment;
Create and automate tools and dashboards which allow the wider team to interpret data and use it more effectively.
5+ years with demonstrated experience in similar roles;
Masters/PhD or equivalent experience in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Computer Science, Applied Sciences or Operational Research;
Experience applying machine learning to real-world problems (preferred);
Comfortable coding in SQL;
Experienced with cloud infrastructure (GCP, AWS, Azure);
Exceptional communication skills, particularly able to communicate complex ideas in a simple fashion;
Expertise in Google Analytics, Data Studio and other BI tools;
Good understanding of digital marketing;
