Meat Manager

Grand Cayman, Full time

Purpose of Role: To purchase products at best costs and quality whilst increasing Meat sales. To manage, develop and coach Departmental employees. 

Reports to: Store Operations Manager 

Key Responsibilities and Objectives: 

  • Review stock status daily and purchase products as necessary; 
  1. Ensure out of stocks are minimal; 
  2. Measure costs of competitive products to insure regular cost possible is attained; 
  3. Responsible for optimum freshness of all products and proper merchandising to achieve maximum sales and profits;
  4. Follow approved Departmental plans for effective space management based on consumer demand and profitability;
  5. Introduce new commodities by reviewing literature and communicating with vendors on new line opportunities;
  6. Follow approved procedures for receiving product, price marking and restocking cases to insure quality protection, accuracy and product rotation,
  7. Take action to control shrinkage and pilferage losses; 
  8. Control Departmental expenses; 
  9. Follow planned program for cleaning and preventative maintenance on cases, back room coolers and refrigeration equipment;
  10. Maintain and submit required records and reports; 
  11. Maintain good communications within the Store, the Meat Department and through the company
  12. Ensure compliance to company’s sanitation, safety and security program; 
  13. Ensure delivery is worked in a timely manner;
  14. Oversee the planning of Departmental holiday schedules, inventory preparation budgeting, expense control and daily issues that arise;
  15. Review and complete date code checks as per Environmental Health guidelines; 15. Monitor performance of quality, productivity and credits; 
  16. Ensure that all Departmental staff are courteous to customers and that all customer complaints/requests are handled promptly and professionally;
  17. Action markdowns; 
  18. Responsible for maximum utilization of store personnel through effective scheduling, counselling and evaluating programs, training programs, motivation and supervision;
  19. Clear all Departmental waste on a nightly basis; 
  20. Undertake yearly Departmental performance appraisals; 
  21. Abide by all company policies as stated in the Employee Handbook; 
  22. Periodically visit competitor stores to stay abreast of competitor pricing, merchandising and activity in the market place;
  23. To undertake any reasonable project or tasks assigned by the Store Operations Manager.
