We are seeking an experienced and dynamic General Manager to lead our client's hotel operations in Suriname. As the primary strategic business leader, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our 110+ room property, ensuring exceptional guest experiences, driving financial success, and fostering a positive work environment. Key Responsibilities:
1. Operational Excellence:
- Oversee daily hotel operations, maintaining high standards of service and efficiency
- Implement and uphold brand standards and operating procedures
- Ensure compliance with local regulations, health, safety, and labor laws
- Lead and support department heads across all hotel functions
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives
2. Financial Management:
- Develop and manage budgets, financial forecasts, and cost controls
- Optimize profitability while maintaining service quality
- Analyze financial reports and implement strategies to enhance revenue and cost efficiency
- Drive revenue growth through strategic pricing, sales, and marketing initiatives
3. Sales and Marketing:
- Develop and execute sales and marketing strategies to increase occupancy and revenue
- Strengthen the hotel's brand positioning in local and international markets
- Build and maintain relationships with key business partners, corporate clients, and travel agencies
- Oversee digital marketing efforts and direct booking strategies
4. Guest Experience:
- Ensure outstanding guest satisfaction through high service standards
- Monitor guest feedback and implement continuous improvements
- Foster a customer-centric culture among employees
5. Leadership and Human Resources:
- Recruit, train, and develop a team of 160 employees (local and expatriates)
- Promote a positive and inclusive workplace culture
- Implement effective HR strategies to ensure employee engagement and retention
- Develop and execute training programs to enhance staff performance
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Minimum 12+ years of hotel management experience, with at least 5 years in a General Manager role
- Proven experience in pre-opening or managing properties with 110+ rooms
- Strong background in international hospitality brands (mandatory)
- Solid understanding of financial management, revenue optimization, and cost control
- Expertise in sales, marketing, and business development
- Excellent leadership and team management skills
- Strong problem-solving abilities and adaptability to change
- Fluency in English (required); proficiency in Dutch or Spanish is a plus
- Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management or related field; MBA preferred
