 About the role
 
 We are seeking a strategy and deal project lead to support “inorganic” initiatives that drive eBay’s growth via acquisitions, investments, and strategic partnerships. The right candidate will join this small and agile team of Partnerships and M&A professionals within eBay’s Corporate Strategy group, with a primary focus on inorganic strategies that accelerate Core Product and Core Technology roadmap. 
 
 The focus of this role may be adapted to suit the background and domain expertise brought by the all-around preferred candidate. At this stage, this is envisioned as a multi-faceted role that will support projects of multiple types (partnerships, M&A, strategic assessments). Due to the broad and cross-functional nature of the team’s charter, which includes early-stage assessments that guide Build / Buy / Partner decisions, the optimal candidate for this role will have experience and interest in engaging a variety of projects and across the full deal lifecycle. 
 
 This candidate will join at an especially exciting juncture, with the charter and potential for impact broadening, and the opportunity to engage an array of strategic activities including development of inorganic roadmap, establishment of process playbooks, and execution on high-visibility deals.
 
 This individual will work closely with teams across eBay Product, Engineering, Operations, Legal, Marketing and Commercial, Support, and Strategy teams to enable these initiatives. This position will report to our Sr Director responsible for eBay’s product and technology focused M&A, investments, and strategic partnerships. 
 
 This is a critical role within the organization. The ideal candidate will operate at a high level of intellectual curiosity, exhibit superior strategic capabilities, demonstrate a strong work ethic, and bring a proven ability to work with and lead virtual teams. They will have the maturity, confidence, intellectual strengths, and real-world experience to lead and inspire cross-functional teams of smart and driven professionals. This candidate must have a passion for understanding and serving the unique community of eBay users. 
 
 Responsibilities:
 
 Lead acquisition, investment, and partnership projects engaging across the deal lifecycle.
 
 Apply an assessment framework to understand strategic gaps and opportunities within the organization, taking into account market context and outlook, and identify or help validate potential target / partner companies.
 
 Support early-stage “sourcing” to identify relevant target / partner companies. Perform industry research to understand the competitive set and develop understanding of emerging technologies and trends. Analyze companies, assess them for fit and identify value propositions within the organization.
 
 Lead meetings with prospective targets, synthesizing key information, facilitating information gathering.
 
 Lead internal cross-functional working groups, driving analysis and planning to support key deliverables (diligence report-outs, partnership framing, integration plans, etc).
 
 Help develop frameworks, evolving team’s playbook for managing inorganic pipeline, roadmap, and individual projects with repeatable success. 
 
 Identify opportunities, lead the development of key business initiatives, and coordinate with eBay stakeholders during implementation. 
 
 Contribute to eBay leadership’s assessment of strategic build / buy / partner options (aligning inorganic vs organic initiatives) and support M&A activities on as needed basis. 
 
 Synthesize the scope of eBay and target / partner businesses and strategic goals to help define execution strategies that optimize potential of acquisitions and partnerships, driving successful outcomes for mutual synergy .
 
 Contribute analysis and recommendations toward structuring of agreements and term-sheets, as well as operational workplans, to support execution of initiatives.
 
 
 Minimum Qualifications:
 
 3+ years experience in role focused on one or more of the following aspects: corporate strategy, strategic partnerships (including partnerships involving investment stake, joint ventures), M&A (acquisitions, investments, divestitures).
 
 Experience with research and analysis to support build/partner/buy assessments.
 
 Experience with supporting the lifecycle one or more of the following types of deals: partnership, investment, acquisition, joint venture. Has enough experience to contribute a viewpoint on choice of execution strategy (key terms, integration or partnership approach, etc) will create value and differentiation, and mitigate risks or issues.
 
 Self-starter and creative problem-solver with demonstrated ability to work independently and productively with minimal oversight.
 
 Strategic problem solver with the ability to transform goals into meaningful partnership plans and adapting them to changing business conditions.
 
 Strong ability to form and communicate technical, financial and strategic value points and trade-offs with eBay teams and partners.
 
 Robust strategic acumen and analytical skills, with strong attention to detail.
 
 Ability to drive action and outcomes in a large cross-functional organization
 
 Bachelor’s degree
 
 
 Preferred Qualifications:
 
 5+ years of experience in roles focused on one or more of the following aspects: corporate strategy, strategic partnerships (including partnerships involving investment stake, joint ventures), M&A (acquisitions, investments, divestitures).
 
 Experience as overall deal lead for M&A, partnership, or investment projects.
 
 Experience with leading partnership, joint venture, or investment engagement with B2B or B2C solution providers (e.g. consumer technology companies, eCommerce and social marketplaces, emerging technology companies).
 
 eCommerce industry experience.
 
 Bachelor's degree combined with MBA or other advanced degree.
