 Job Responsibilities
 
 The Business System Analyst is responsible for gathering and understanding the business requirements, defining automation opportunities and creating and maintaining rules within a backend rules engine. These rules are used for eBay policy enforcement, process enforcement, and process automation.
 
 The Business System Analyst proactively works with Policy Managers, Process Managers, and other business collaborators to understand changing needs, policies, and procedures.
 
 The Business System Analyst also works with the business to understand problem statements. Strategize on root cause and provide detailed technical recommendations.
 
 The Business System Analyst ensures all changes from the business are coordinated with Customer Service Technology team and are reflected and applied accurately in the written rules.
 
 Job Requirements
 
 Core Responsibilities:
 Requirements elicitation with collaborators – policy managers, business leaders and turn them into a technical solution.
 Analysis of business rules artifacts (requirements documents, process maps).
 Creation and modification, organization, and optimization of business rules.
 Monitoring, analysis, and interpretation of data.
 Documentation of requirements and reports.
 Create user stories to guide development of new automation capabilities
 Attend or manage workshops and update meetings
 Understanding of product and all dependencies and usage.
 Sets requirements of high quality rules with upfront risk assessment and mitigation strategies, in partnership with Business and product stakeholders.
 
 Skills & Experience:
 Analytical Thinking—ability to analyze information, pull data, compare and contrast trending data to draw conclusions and build action plans.
 Critical Thinking—using logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
 Organizational and Project Management—The ability to use technology and project management skills to pull requirements from a project document and successfully complete in a timely manner.
 Results Orientation—focuses self and others on achieving desired outcomes in a responsive and timely manner.
 Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
 SQL or equivalent experience writing and running database queries.
 Leadership—Self-driven/self-motivated, willing to lead, take charge, offer opinions and direction. Escalates appropriately in a timely manner.
 Communication—ability to interact with all levels of the organization. Listens openly, understands root causes and clearly conveys messages and information.
 Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously
 Teamwork—Works effectively with others to accomplish objectives and goals. Proven success in contributing to a team-oriented environment.
 Preferred but not required - Subject matter expertise in various policies and processes across eBay marketplace.
 
 Education:
 Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
 Skills in writing macros or developing automation for business processes are strongly preferred.
