Fully Remote opportunity, equipment provided, travel expenses paid for Zachary Piper Solutions is currently seeking a Secret cleared Field Engineer to support a federal integrator and their nationwide customer base. Our team is upgrading Optical transport equipment on a nationwide fiber backbone network. Individuals will work as part of a team to install and commission optical transport nodes, test fiber, update as-built drawings, assist with circuit migrations, perform Preventive Maintenance Inspections, and conduct inventories of installed equipment. This role will require 75% travel to client sites in VA, NC, SC, GA, FL, TX, CA, NV, UT, CO, IL, and the entire Northeast. Responsibilities for Field Engineer: Perform Inside Plant Installation responsibilities such as: · Create deployment plans · Identify materials and tools required to support · Run Inter and Intra bay fibering · Cable labeling · Able to create, redline and interpret complex drawings · Ability to learn how to Commission and Provision Ciena DWDM systems. (Previous DWDM provisioning experience of other systems acceptable) · Required to perform End to End testing from DS3 to OC768 using various test equipment. · Able to test Dark Fiber using test sets to perform OTDR, PMD, and CD · Troubleshoot escalated complex network problems to ensure minimal disruption of critical services Qualifications for Field Engineer: · BS in Engineering or equivalent and combination of work experience and education (8+ years experience in telecommunications, network operations or similar discipline with a background education in Engineering) · Five years of network operations and engineering experience · Three-five years ' experience working in the operations and maintenance of multi-vendor, multi-protocol networks · Familiar with Operations Maintenance & Provisioning of DWDM and Ethernet systems is highly desired · Experience coordinating network installation activity, test and acceptance using corporate best practices · Working knowledge of fiber transmission standards, SDH, SONET, ATM, switch, routers, GPS, power, network management, O&M procedures, configuration management, and project management processes and procedures · Sound understanding of Layer 1 and Layer 2 network topology to include fiber, power, ISP, OSP, equipment, signal flow, etc. · Active Secret DoD Clearance and valid driver's license Compensation for Field Engineer: $85,000 to $100,000 depending on experience.
