Director of Programs

Vincent Village (Fort Wayne, Indiana), Full time

Vincent Village is looking for an experienced and passionate social services professional who is committed to ending family homelessness. For more than 30 years, this innovative nonprofit has helped homeless families with children gain permanent housing and self-sufficiency. Looking to the future, Vincent Village is seeking a high-energy Director of Programs who is driven to provide high-quality service while also helping the agency grow and serve even more families in need.

The Director of Programs will serve as a key member of the Vincent Village leadership team, working with the Executive Director and other staff leaders to develop an effective and sustainable mix of programs that make use of best practices as well as innovative new intervention. He or she will also be an inspiring team leader, encouraging both quality service and professional growth among his or her staff.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills; an adaptable, resourceful and flexible workstyle; and the ability to work both independently and as part of a highly productive team. Key functions for this role include:

  • Researching, writing, implementing and enforcing policies and procedures that ensure effective program performance and high-quality service delivery
  • Managing the agency’s case managers and resident advisors, building a high-performance, high-morale team; serving as back-up/on-call case manager as needed
  • Providing effective and timely staff supervision and oversight, including mentoring, case note review and professional development
  • Maintaining records/case notes for client files in compliance with agency policies, funder requirements and government regulations. Prepare and deliver reports as required.
  • Participating in community networking and coordination, including developing relationships with housing and other service providers.

This position requires three years of professional experience and a bachelor’s degree in social work or a related field; a master’s degree is preferred. Qualified candidates will have strong organizational and time-management skills and an ability to multitask effectively. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, Homeless Management Information Systems and other software. Applicants must have experience working with diverse populations and be passionate about working to improve the lives of people experiencing poverty or homelessness.

The Director of Programs is a full-time, exempt position; some evening and weekend work will be required. Applicants must possess a valid driver’s license, a clean driving record, access to reliable transportation and confidence driving a large van.
