What You Will Do

The Summit AV Installation Technician is responsible for various installation practices, across a wide range of projects. Because of the large scope of our projects, this role requires travel and overtime. Because of the extensive nature of our projects, overtime is required and rewarded with OT compensation and additional time off. It is a win-win!

Our AV Installation Techs are based in Colorado and travel up to 32 weeks a year on projects typically lasting up to two weeks at a time. Our office is located in the metro Boulder area. When working locally, you may be commuting to job-sites within 35 miles of Summit HQ.

  • Utilize basic construction skill sets pertaining to large scale Audio Visual Lighting system integration
  • Operate Aerial scissor & Boom lifts, Forklifts; Setup & Teardown Scaffolding & Ladders
  • Maintain a full set of personal & Summit loaner tools as defined by the Required Tool List
  • Bring a working & full set of PPE to all Job-sites, Adhere to all Job-site safety practices
  • Verify work with the site Foreman & lead technicians, delivering a consistent level of craftsmanship
  • Complete expected amount of work each day that meets or exceeds The Summit Standard
  • Participate in job-site cleaning, organization, and contribute to all team-work that is asked; fully test and inspect all work; remain accountable to your own individual quality control
  • Utilize and update all required spreadsheets, drawings, to do’s, and internal communication apps
  • Transport installation materials & equipment from the Summit Warehouse to job sites across the US
  • Drive Company vehicles safely & in line with the expectations set forth by the employee handbook
  • Commute to and from Summit HQ, Local Projects, & arrange transportation to/from airport
  • Load & unload project trailers, Support Foreman in preparation for projects
  • Track project hours and submit per-diem/expense reimbursement bi-weekly
  • Represent Summit Integrated well in front of a wide range of customer personnel

AVL Installation Technician Levels

This role is open to new recruits as well as seasoned technicians. We invest in our employees and career development is a focus at Summit Integrated Systems.

New Recruit, Entry-level= ($16-17/hr)

Junior Audio Visual Installation Technician (6 months-500 project hrs experience)= ($17-20/hr)

Advanced Audio Visual Installation Technician (1 year-2000 project hrs experience)=($21-24/hr)

Senior Audio Visual Installation Technician (4 years-6000 project hrs experience) =($25-30/hr)

Physical and Cognitive Requirements:  

This position has the following physical requirements:

  • Constant 
    • Walking around jobsite in between tasks
    • Standing, as most work is done standing
    • Climbing on lifts, ladders and step stools
    • Fine dexterity motion with tiny wires and hardware
  • Frequent 
    • Driving a vehicle and/or flying to work locations
    • Rigging and installing speakers and equipment
    • Lifting up to 25 lbs 
    • Gripping and repetitive motion with the hands
    • Use of dexterity, handling, and wrist motions
    • Carrying up to 50 lbs.

Working conditions:

  • Constant work inside
  • Frequently working 6 feet off of the floor, with risk of major and minor injuries as well as exposure to dust.
  • Working in confined spaces at times
  • Constant expectation to meet production deadlines.
  • Occasional irregular or extended work hours, working alone, and fielding multiple demands from several people.

 Compensation, Benefits and Total Rewards

Summit Integrated Systems offers a unique compensation opportunity. Hours while working on-site generally average between 50-60 per week; any hours over 40 in a work week are subject to overtime and will be paid at time and a half. While we can't guarantee that every project will require overtime, it's a common occurrence at Summit. Our techs enjoy the way it increases their total comp.
