#859 - Shop Tech I - Seeking Transitioning Service Member (Skillbridge Program)

 

We are seeking a transitioning service member to join our team as a Senior-level Skilled Labor Shop Technician (this position offers many GROWTH opportunities and can convert to a permanent position).

 

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

We are looking for a Senior-level Shop Tech I who will be responsible for overseeing and managing a variety of mechanical equipment services and repairs.

Shop Tech I must demonstrate expert-level knowledge of tools, equipment, and safety protocols, as well as strong leadership and communication skills.

 

DAY-TO-DAY:

1. Supervise and manage all aspects of equipment maintenance and repair, including the use of tools, equipment, and safety protocols.
2. Will be able to independently sandblast parts, and break down conveyors, shaker decks, agitators, and all other company-owned equipment. 
3. Will be able to diagnose problems with the equipment and point out worn and/or faulty parts that need to be addressed. 
4. Will be able to perform engine and transmission swaps.
5. Will be required to rebuild gearboxes, electrical motors, and PTO drives. 
6. Will be able to diagnose and repair 24v electrical systems, engine cooling systems, and fuel systems. 
7. Will be familiar with air conditioning systems and heating systems. 
8. Will be proficient in diagnostics and repairs of basic to complex hydraulic components and systems. 
9. Provide guidance and support to Shop Tech II and III, ensuring quality workmanship and adherence to safety guidelines.
10. Develop and implement efficient repair and maintenance strategies, optimizing resource utilization and project timelines.
11. Participate in regular safety meetings and training sessions to maintain a strong safety culture within the team.
12. Collaborate with other company departments, such as supplies purchasing, safety, and management to ensure successful project completion.
13. Participate in ongoing professional development and industry training to stay current with the latest in maintenance and repair techniques and technologies.

 

OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 5+ years of experience as a general labor technician or in a related field, with a proven track record of success
  • Valid driver's license
  • Expert knowledge of repair and maintenance of construction and dredging equipment.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and teamwork skills
  • Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions and to perform physically demanding tasks
  • Familiarity with relevant environmental regulations and best practices for equipment repair and maintenance
