The Position:

We are seeking a skilled Senior Electrical Engineer for an important role within our growing team. Reporting to the Manager of the Systems Engineering team, this professional will design electrical systems for Loop Energy fuel cell systems. 

This role will involve a significant amount of hands-on work and offers the opportunity to join a fuel cell manufacturer at the beginning of the scale-up process in fast-paced environment with potential growth to different roles.

Each day will be different, yet key responsibilities and expectations include:
  • Design electrical systems for Loop Energy fuel cell systems, including LV and HV DC circuits, to meet performance, reliability and cost requirements
  • Create and/or review schematics, specifications and control logic diagrams as needed to document designs
  • Organize and lead effective engineering technical reviews of electrical designs
  • Develop electrical component design specification from system requirements
  • Specify and source electrical components and subsystems
  • Define and evaluate the product safety concept for high voltage safety, isolation/bonding and combustible atmospheres
  • Validate designs including defining appropriate test procedures, troubleshooting during the commissioning process, and reviewing test reports
What we are looking for:
  • A senior level of relevant engineering experience
  • Bachelors in Electrical Engineering
  • Proven ability to design low and high voltage DC wiring harnesses for mobile applications
  • Proven ability to design state logic, analog and digital control systems (at both the regulatory and supervisory control level)
  • Knowledge of EMI/EMC standards, design practices and diagnostic techniques
  • Hands-on troubleshooting of electrical circuits and devices
  • Working knowledge of regulatory codes and standards for automotive electronics
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Capable of working in a fast-paced environment
  • Capable of working in a pro-active manner with minimal supervision
  • Structured problem solving skills (e.g. 8D, 5-Whys, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of regulatory codes and standards considered an asset
  • VA/VE or design to cost experience considered an asset
