The Position:

Loop is looking to hire a Facilities and Equipment Maintenance Manager for our Burnaby Production Facility and Offices. Reporting to the VP of Operations, the successful candidate will play a vital role in the daily operation of our factory, as well as the planning and implementation of system capacity expansions. 

The successful candidate thrives on the results from the smooth operation and growth of a high-tech manufacturing facility. We are pursuing candidates with demonstrable achievements in facilities and industrial equipment management that exemplify the energy, passion and drive the candidate would bring to our facilities in Burnaby.  This role covers two production facilities and one office space in close proximity to one another.

Each day will be different, yet key responsibilities and expectations include:

  • Develop Statement of Requirements (SOR) with help from equipment vendors and other resources to implement and monitor industrial system controls on the facility mechanical and electrical systems
  • Develop production and test equipment vendor specifications into facility requirements (supply power, compressed air, etc.) 
  • Implementation of electrical and mechanical infrastructure projects ranging from small scale multi-trade construction projects to office layout and renovations
  • Establish, modify and maintain preventative maintenance schedule for factory systems and equipment
  • Responsible for maintaining company Facility Key Performance Indices (KPIs) across all processes (part manufacture, sub-assembly and final assemblies) 
  • Provide inputs from a Facilities viewpoint to Joint Health and Safety Committee meetings
  • Electrical upgrade to facility in preparation for new and additional equipment arrival
  • Weekly project update & safety performance reporting
  • Facility preparation for arrival of new equipment for seal, plate manufacturing strap welding
  • Spec and integrate industrial control and monitoring network for cooling, power monitoring
  • Spec and integrate data acquisition system for manufacturing process data capture and analysis
  • Project manage the following types of tasks:

Implementation of high-voltage (up to 600V) primary electrical system upgrades and management

Work with the Production Team in the implementation and maintenance of 5S systems

Work with the Production and Manufacturing Engineering teams in the implementation of manufacturing equipment

Establish, maintain and continually improve key manufacturing processes such as work order tracking, product build configuration management, 5S, FIFO, manufacturing key points, and inventory control

Implementation and use of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and Data Acquisition Systems (DAQ)

Integration of high voltage power handling devices such as battery systems, DCDC converters and load banks

What we are looking for:

  • Past experience in increasing leadership roles in the management of facilities in the mechanical/industrial mass production industries.
  • Proven success in leading projects in the implementation of electrical and mechanical system upgrades in production facilities
  • Experience in the design and use of high-voltage power handling equipment and test stations.
  • Ticketed Electrician and/or certified millwright with increasing responsibilities in equipment and facilities management experience. 
  • Bachelor of Applied Science specializing in Electrical or Industrial Engineering is an asset.
  • Demonstrate an ongoing willingness at expanding their knowledge base in diverse but related areas (ongoing learning)
  • Experience in automotive industry systems and sub-systems manufacturing (tier 1 or 2) with organizations that performed the complete cycle from developing systems to production is an asset
  • Experience in hydrogen fuel cell operation, manufacturing or design is an asset
  • Product lifecycle management skills is an asset
