The Unit Cell Engineer is responsible for the performance model of the unit cell components.

Each day will be different, yet key responsibilities and expectations include:
  • Work closely with the Unit Cell Plate Engineer and System Architect to expand on current predictive models in evaluating plate parameters, MEA, seal and operating conditions
  • Coordinate activities with the testing team in the analysis of test results; perform correlation studies to the performance models
  • Develop testing methodologies to identify performance gaps and reliability concerns
  • Support prototype builds and tear down analysis of test or field units
  • Provide detailed reports of analysis; use models to develop design rules in future designs
  • Work closely with the team of engineers developing system requirements and optimization of components
  • Participate in detailed design reviews and documentation of the design process
What we are looking for:
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering
  • 10 years of experience in a Fuel Cell environment, specifically in unit cell or testing
  • Use of standard analysis tools: FEA, CFD, MATLAB
  • Strong understanding of fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and heat transfer
  • Understanding of fuel cell electrochemical reactions
  • Understanding of design verification and validation, ability to incorporate learnings in future designs
  • 3D CAD design experience (Solidworks preferred)
  • Unit Cell Specific FEA/CFD experience (Comsol/Ansys/Fluent/Matlab)
  • VA/VE experience an asset
  • Application of structured problem-solving methods (8D, 5-whys)
  • Pro-active; ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work and multi-task in a highly technical, fast-paced environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office
