The Position:

We are seeking a skilled Senior Controls Engineer for an important role within our growing team. The successful professional will be responsible for the design and implementation of embedded control software, simulation and diagnostic solutions for Loop Energy's fuel cell systems.

The Senior Controls Engineer must have proven experience in design, release, validation, troubleshooting and customer integration of complex control systems using embedded firmware. 

This role will involve a significant amount of hands-on work and offers the opportunity to join a fuel cell manufacturer at the beginning of the scale-up process in fast-paced environment with potential growth to different roles.

Each day will be different, yet key responsibilities and expectations include:
  • Work with cross-functional team to deliver robust embedded software solutions for Loop Energy fuel cell systems
  • Design and implement control logic using best practices for software development
  • Ensure software solutions meet rigorous safety and quality standards
  • Regularly analyze control systems and make ongoing improvements to increase product quality, reliability, and performance
  • Assist in verification and validation of hardware and software components and complete systems 
What we are looking for:
  • Proven industry experience in real-time embedded software development
  • Bachelor’s degree in software or electrical engineering or equivalent
  • Industry experience with fuel cell control systems for automotive or mobility applications highly valued
  • Demonstrated fluency in use of MATLAB/Simulink, implementing state machines, closed loop control systems and fault detection frameworks
  • Software verification and validation using Software-In-Loop (SIL) and Hardware-In-Loop (HIL) test methodologies
  • Familiarity with ISO26262, IEC61508 or similar functional safety standards
  • Experience in fast-paced software development environment using git/SVN version control
  • Use of structured analytical and problem solving techniques (8D, 5-Whys)
  • Must have strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Results-oriented and driven work style
  • International travel may be required
