Marketing Manager, Conversion Optimization ($60-$90k)

ClutchPrep is looking for an experienced Conversion Rate Optimization professional to join our Growth Team. As our CRO lead, you will have a significant impact in accelerating our mission to provide the best supplemental learning experience in the world.


  • We believe that (1) learning doesn’t have to be as hard as it still is; and (2) because we are able to help, it is our mission to do so
  • We help students by producing high quality supplemental content that is relevant to what they’re learning in the classroom
  • We already have hundreds of hours of concept videos and practice problems for many undergraduate science & math classes
  • We are on a mission to increase the QUALITY of our help (more content & features) and the QUANTITY of students we reach
  • We began ramping up our SEO efforts in 2017, and in 2018 our Subscribers from SEO/Content Marketing has grown 2.6x YoY


  • Own all Conversion Optimization efforts to maximize (a) conversions into paid Subscription and, more broadly, (b) revenue per sign-up
  • As our needs evolve, this role may expand into a broader Director role, to include Retention, Revenue, and/or Referrals


1. Own STRATEGY for Conversion Optimization: user flows/funnels, pages, and Email/SMS marketing
  • Work with CEO & Growth Team to set quarterly Conversion priorities/targets, and periodically assess & adjust overall Growth strategy
  • b. Contribute to Product Teams quarterly prioritization of Product efforts (beyond just Optimization) as well as overall Product strategy
  • Lead ongoing Analysis & Research to inform Conversions: funnel/product/email metrics, user research/testing, etc
  • Maintain a comprehensive list of testable Optimization hypotheses, and operate an analytical framework to prioritize them

2. Own EXECUTION of all Conversion Optimization efforts to hit quarterly targets

  • For every test: write a hypothesis, design minimum viable test, manage implementation, monitor & document progress, results, learnings
  • Coordinate technical implementation ofheavytests with CTO & Engineering; when possible, launch lighttests without Engineering
  • Own our Email/SMS Marketing efforts (logic/flows, copy, landing pages), and Conversion copy on all web pages and Emails/SMS
  • Manage the creation of all Content assets to assist in Conversions (Academic, in-house & non-Academic, outsourced)
  • Source, hire, fire, and manage all agencies/contractors supporting Conversion Optimization

3. Continuously monitor top Conversion metrics; fix issues as detected
4. Stay up-to-date on industry updates and best practices; continuously expand overall CRO knowledge


  1. Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in optimizing flows/funnels and pages, with a track record of business impact/growth
  2. Significant experience (a) identifying or prioritizing Optimization opportunities, and (b) designing or implementing Optimization tests
  3. Significant experience with CRO analytics & research; proficient at GA or similar, and CRO platforms/tools (Optimizely, VWO, or other)
  4. Experience working with Engineers to implement tests (Bonus: Experience working with UI/UX designers)
  5. Very proficient with math & stats for tests and funnel analyses, and with manipulating data on Excel/Google Sheets (Bonus: SQL/BI Tools)

  • Significant experience with persuasive copywriting, especially short-form/micro copy, or wireframing landing pages
  • Significant experience with Email/SMS Marketing, or with managing the creation of Content assets for Conversions
  • Experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, for web pages or email
  • Experience with Paid Acquisition, especially ReTargeting, or any experience with SEO, Content Marketing, or Attribution Modeling
  • Significant experience in hiring and managing agencies or contractors
  • Worked in products that are B2C, educational, aimed at 18-24 demographics, or based on premium content
