If I have learned anything from the countless talented creatives we\u2019ve met at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.market-recruitment.co.uk\/\">Market Recruitment<\/a>, it\u2019s that this process is very much a two-way street.<\/p>\n<p>At our agency, we work specifically with matching outstanding marketing talent to technology and B2B clients. The field is highly specialized and demands very specific skill sets from its people. Our first recommendation to every client is universal: before you even post a job description, remember that you have to pitch your place.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s what I have learned in my 20 years in recruitment.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Enthusiasm_and_a_great_tagline_just_arent_enough_communicate\"><\/span>Enthusiasm and a great tagline just aren\u2019t enough: communicate.<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>According to a survey from Glassdoor, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.glassdoor.com\/employers\/blog\/6-in-10-employees-say-job-realities-different-than-expected-glassdoor-survey\/\">61% of employees<\/a> report that the realities of their jobs just didn\u2019t match the expectations set for them during the interview process. Whether you\u2019re working with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.market-recruitment.co.uk\/about-us.asp\">professional recruiters<\/a> like my team, hiring managers, or in-house interview specialists, clear communication is about more than just finding a good match: it\u2019s an essential part of your company experience.<\/p>\n<p>Possessing clear knowledge of core values, effectively articulating the brand vision, and taking all parts of these conversations seriously carries critical weight in the candidate\u2019s first impressions of your company \u2014 whether you choose to eventually welcome them on board or not.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Show_them_your_best_side_get_face_to_face\"><\/span>Show them your best side: get face to face.<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>We\u2019ve noticed that when we send our candidates a video job description, with a manager actively talking through the role in question, we\u2019ve experienced a whopping 82% increase in applications. A full 49% more applicants want to be put forward to the next round for the job than when they\u2019ve been offered traditional job descriptions or less personal invitations. But why?<\/p>\n<p>Two simple reasons:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When you lead the hiring experience with real people, they get to see your face \u2014 literally. If a candidate gets to e-meet a manager out of the gate, they have more of an opportunity to paint a picture of the company experience: is this a person they like? Could they connect with them? Do they seem kind, clear, and approachable? A job description that offers nuanced details and an insight into the culture is far more compelling than a poster or a generic listing.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You stand out. The hiring market is a busy place, and a more personal contact \u2014 be it a video, a video chat, or even a more personalized call \u2014 positions you and your team as real, breathing human beings. It\u2019s a content pool that just keeps growing, and it\u2019s fast outpacing the traditional ways of attracting talent (<a href=\"https:\/\/recruiterflow.com\/blog\/death-job-board\/\">goodbye, job boards<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>But it\u2019s more than simply paying for a sponsored post from time to time. Pitching your place through social media opens up a whole world of possibilities: much like the videos I just mentioned, these channels allow your team to tell an authentic story. They position your company at the <a href=\"https:\/\/recruiterflow.com\/blog\/9-tips-sourcing-attracting-candidates-social-media\/\">heart of the action<\/a>, with an accessible, interesting, and compelling culture.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><i>Optimize a LinkedIn page for your company and make sure it\u2019s up-to-date. It makes it easy to find.<\/i><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><i>Run digital Q&amp;A sessions for interested candidates. From video streaming to live chat opportunities, social media can create direct connections with potential talent. For goodness sake, get on the gram if you haven\u2019t yet!<\/i><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.veed.io\/learn\/best-video-editing-software\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Create branded videos<\/a> beyond job descriptions. These can cover all kinds of content to build your brand. Facility tours, team introductions, or project highlights \u2014 whatever the content, they\u2019re a great way to pitch who you really are.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Create_comfortable_quarters\"><\/span>Create comfortable quarters.<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>I\u2019ve talked a lot about the ways to portray your company, but it\u2019s also a big deal for your workplace to feel great IRL. <a href=\"https:\/\/allwork.space\/2019\/01\/the-office-is-killing-us-how-workplace-design-helps-combat-sedentary-behavior\/\">Bad offices are killing us<\/a>, while good ones hold the power to boost moods, decrease fatigue, encourage camaraderie, and enhance productivity. From reception to interview, it\u2019s key to make candidates comfortable \u2014 and to house your team in a space that creates a welcoming atmosphere.<\/p>\n<p>There are lots of ways to kick your curb appeal up a notch and get folks to feel at home:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Integrate stylish branding, creative elements, <a href=\"https:\/\/bluethumbart.com\/blog\/understanding-art\/different-types-of-art-their-power-and-purpose\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">and artwork<\/a> to make your space unique.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Make sure people don\u2019t feel cramped \u2014 there\u2019s nothing worse than a team who feels physically restricted.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Offer both standing and seated meeting spaces. Active collaboration on one\u2019s feet can be just as beneficial as gathering around a conference table.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Make your reception and community areas easy to find.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Encourage movement throughout your space with interconnecting stairs, lobbies, and high activity zones that draw teams together.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Promote good health: consider offering healthy snacks for your team and visitors, or even hosting fitness classes with the help of a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.trainwell.net\/blog\/personal-trainer-app\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">personal trainer app<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Engage_employees_from_the_first_interview\"><\/span>Engage employees from the first interview.<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>My team has found that building a great team \u2014 and creating a great hiring and staffing dynamic \u2014 is all about the experience. Genuine engagement and attention from the very first interview makes candidates feel valued, and that means they\u2019ll respect your brand and your company from the get-go \u2014 even if they never end up on your team!<\/p>\n<p>After studying millions of international employees to find the best of the best in workplaces, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gallup.com\/workplace\/236336\/workplaces-stand-rest.aspx\">researchers at Gallup<\/a> agreed: regardless of your company\u2019s location, industry, size, or culture, the absolute standouts focus on engaging their employees and committing to treating them as valuable parts of a powerful team. They don\u2019t just talk the talk. They focus on creating comprehensive development programs, they emphasize teamwork, they clarify work expectations and they reward standout performance. They provide the necessary tools and answer questions.
