Director of Copywriting

San Francisco , Full time

Ability to connect with & inspire the writing & design team in a way that keeps standards & a high company morale.  This position requires a powerful communicator. The Director will lead the development of projects, presentations & creative execution with a distinct style & well thought out point of view. The Director of Copywriting will have creative authority over the voice of the organization and be expected to direct staff of the mission, design, and development of the brand.

In this role, you will:

§  Manage, grow, & mentor the internal copywriting team.

§  Work with external contract designers &  copywriters.

§  Enhance the creative environment to develop a more creative development team

§  Lead the development and execution of copy for marketing in print & electronic formats.

§  Collaborate with internal clients (marketing team members, lawyers, business services employees & designers) around the world.

§  Ensure quality & timely delivery of projects within budget & on brand.

§  Provide ongoing feedback & guidance for writers & designers.

§  Oversee presentations of concepts with internal partners.

§  Protect the integrity of the brand across all channels & conduct periodic training on the brand guidelines for team members.

§  Other duties as assigned

 

PERSONAL/PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

§  10+ years relevant experience (preferably at a design firm, agency, or in-house design department)

§  Supervisory skills (required)

§  Team player/leader

§  Restricted industry work a plus (sensitive materials/marketing/language)

§  Passion for grammar, punctuation, spelling and language

§  Strong brand writing vision & execution

§  Brand skills – with proven track record

§  Flexible & creative problem solver

§  Professional maturity & accountability

§  Supervision of multiple people & projects under tight deadlines

§  Able to organize & prioritize workload efficiently &effectively

§  Excellent presentation skills

§  Strong client management & negotiation skills.

§  Understand current production methods, both print & electronic. (Online digital experience is required!)

§  Mastery of software applications (Adobe Creative Suite, Word, and PowerPoint. Knowledge of HTML is a plus.)

§  Ability to work with Apple products.
