This company has a mission to formulate and engineer an entire beauty line that simplifies how you use, carry and apply makeup. As an on-the-go urban woman, Jenn was tired of lugging around a messy, heavy makeup bag. Like all the other busy ladies out there she was strapped for time. Jenn wanted a better solution for her everyday makeup routine and on-the-go (fitness, travel and work) touch-ups. So they launched their Essential 8 set which is an everyday 5 minute routine for the real women. 


This role is solely responsible for all accounting operations, as well as oversee all finance and administrative efforts for the company. The individual will work very closely with the company’s co-founder (>10 hours weekly direct exposure) and must ensure that books are kept up to date and accurate for quick decision making and reporting. A successful (senior) accountant combines solid analytical skills and a deep knowledge of accounting principles to analyze financial reports, prepare budgets and ensure compliance throughout all activities.

The candidate must be proactive and have the ability to troubleshoot, manage relationships, and create foundational systems in a dynamic and sometimes disorganized environment. The individual must be an effective collaborator as the sole finance role within the team, as other team members rely heavily on his/her support with finance reporting related queries. This role will be ever changing and will require the candidate to be flexible and open-minded, while being detail oriented and capable of helping create processes for a fast-growing company.    
  • Prepare and process journal entries and account reconciliations for Retail and eCommerce Channels
  • Reconcile bank and credit card accounts on an ongoing basis
  • Manage accounts receivables and account payables and maintain records of vendor relations and statuses
  • Maintain a rolling monthly cash flow budget 1 year out, as well as a daily cash flow budget 1 month out and make daily recommendations concerning them to the co-founder
  • Work closely with the operations team to ensure all stock movement is recorded accurately
  • Work closely with eCommerce team to ensure all sales is recorded accurately and assist as needed with projects that involve any sorts of integration with our ERP system
  • Work closely with team heads to create budgets and perform budget-to-actual reviews on a frequent basis
  • Dispute any chargebacks arising from retail and eCommerce customers and make recommendations on how to prevent future chargeback expenses
  • Provide overall financial support to senior management including preparation of various ad-hoc financial reports and special projects
  • Manage payroll and benefits activities in online HR portal and work together with founders on accurately setting up new hires for payroll purposes
  • Provide bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports
  • Conduct variance analyses and provide recommendation on improving efficiency and cost cut
  • Stay informed and current with bookkeeping, tax filing, HR standards and other related government regulations
  • Be primary point of contact to support internal and external audits    
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting  (CPA preferred)
  • Minimum of 4 – 5+ years of experience in Retail or Consumer Goods
  • Desire to make process improvements

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and knowledge of computer information systems used to present financial information
  • Experience & knowledge working with an ERP system, ideally with SAP Business One
  • Knowledge of GAAP and internal controls policies and procedures
