Job Description: Ophthalmologist

General Comments: The Ophthalmologist is responsible for providing vision services in an ambulatory care setting and must perform with a focus on risk management, occupational safety and health, and providing internal and external customer service.

Job Responsibilities And Duties

·         Responsible for assessing new patients or one that has been treated before, the Ophthalmologist will be responsible for gathering important information regarding their health history and current symptoms

·         Also expected to keep and maintain detailed records about their symptoms and diagnosis

·         Perform examinations to determine the overall health of the patients’ eyes. During these examinations expected to look for issues like muscular regeneration, glaucoma, cataracts or impaired vision. If a problem has been diagnosed, the Ophthalmologist will determine a treatment plan with the goal of correcting the issue

·         Responsible for referring for the necessary surgical procedures if a patient’s diagnosis requires surgery

·         Adherence to the highest standards of medical practice, ethics, and professionalism at all times

·         Maintain confidentiality of all patient information according to federal guidelines and regulations

·         Maintain an affiliation with professional groups, medical associations, and medical organizations, as per policies established and represent in all meetings of these associations and organizations as assigned

·         Excellent understanding and familiarity with Federal, State, and local rules, regulations, and practices

Skills And Qualifications

·         Thorough knowledge of making anatomical and functional ocular measurements

·         Knowledge and ability to apply professional medical principles, procedures and techniques

·         Staying up to date with the latest treatments and diagnostic methods

·         Effective verbal and written communication skills along with proper telephone etiquette

·         Tactful and professional manner

·         Excellent computer skills that include sound knowledge of the use an Electronic Medical Record

·         Degree in Medicine (MD/DO) from an accredited school and a valid/current license to practice in New Jersey State

·         Board Certified or Board Eligible in Ophthalmology

·         New Jersey State Medical license (Required)

·         Current DEA

·         Current BLS or ACLS certificate

·         Experience: Ophthalmology: 3 years (Preferred); Recent graduates are welcome to apply.

·         License: Ophthalmology (Required)
