The Media Strategist leads the day-to-day process of developing insight-driven communication strategies supporting the activation of integrated marketing programs. Internally acts as a consultant advising the team on best communication channels/tools/technology to activate concepts. Externally, manages agency relationships to ensure consumers and partners are effectively being reached through innovative touch-points for all programs.
§ Develops brand and shopper strategies that come to life in Media/Technology/Digital channels, both online and offline.
§ Helps develop connections strategies that inspire creative briefs, creative work, award-winning ideas, category insights, trend reports, and product innovations.
§ Incorporates user-experience insights, technology insights and digital insights to inspire the creative process.
§ Work closely with agency strategy, analytics and investment teams to build media plans and recommendations to deliver on client objectives
§ Leverage third party research to inform target insights on media usage patterns and preferences
§ Develop and/or present point-of-views on new media opportunities
§ Perform competitive analyses and make recommendations based on key findings
§ Distribute RFPs, negotiate rates/placements and added value for print vehicles
§ Maintain flowcharts and budget summaries
§ Prepare client media performance reports and make optimization recommendations
§ Participate in brainstorming sessions
§ Stay apprised of new developments in the media landscape; meet with media sales reps on a regular basis to pursue ideas that are strategically aligned with client’s business goals
§ Become a primary point of contact by actively gaining trust of clients
§ Demonstrates ability to effectively manage multiple tasks by prioritizing workload, completing and issuing projects in a timely fashion, continually following-up and communicating project status to supervisor on a regular basis. Proactively seeks opportunities and presents them to supervisor.
§ Demonstrates proficiency and professionalism in productive media vendor relationships, positioning, promotional and added value programs. Leverages vendor relationships to enhance media knowledge and provide additional value for client.
Experience, Expertise and Qualifications:
§ Bachelor’s degree required
§ 3-5 years of media planning/connections strategy experience required
§ Experience in collaborating and brainstorming with internal and external creative teams
§ Experience in working with brand strategy or planning teams
§ Strong digital and social media planning experience
§ Attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks required
§ Strong presentation skills required
§ Strong command of media research and resources capabilities and limitations required

§ Previous startup experience is ideal but not necessary
§ Previous eCommerce experience is a huge bonus!
